1. How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals? This program has given me a crash course in the finer points of interneting. Learning new things is always enjoyable and so this was fun.
2. What were your favorite Learning 2.0 discoveries or exercises? One of my favourite discoveries was the Google Docs because I know that it will be useful for some of our patrons. My top favourite thing, that I really liked doing, was setting up the blog. For some reason I liked creating and maintaining it. I like the fact that it is a work in progress...always changing, never the same.
3. Did anything surprise you? It surprised me that this learning took a lot of my time. It also surprised me that the internet had so many offerings that I hadn't tried.
4. Was there enough help available when you needed it? Yup.
5. What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept? The only problem I had with the program is that, as an LA, there was very little time to sit down and do the lessons on company time. I think it should be something that is formally scheduled. I had one other concern regarding your content in Lesson #23 and this has to do with your choice of YouTube videos...your political persuasion was showing through, to my chagrin.
6. Would you like to see similar training opportunities as new library-relevant technologies emerge? Sure.
7. And, last one, if you could go back in time and tell yourself to either participate in the program or skip it, what would you do? If I knew how much of my own time would be used on this program, I may not have participated. But I DID participate and I DID learn many things, of which I am very thankful. Bravo to all who made this program possible.
8. Was there anything else you thought we should have covered?
At the moment I cannot think of anything else you might have covered in this program.

I am not sure how KCLS might use podcasts to promote their adgenda. It was very interesting to search through a great number of the podcasts. I added an RSS feed to my blogline account...OK, Dude.

Dude...This video was forwarded to me via YouTube from my sister. It is a very funny clip. My son uses YouTube for watching bass guitar lessons. It looks like KCLS already has their Summer Reading Program Video on YouTube. Bravo for KCLS.

Choose Your Own Adventure

I went to Games in the Web 2.0 Awards Category listings. From there I scrolled down the page to the Mapping Awards where I found an Honorable Mention website called skibonk which summarizes ski conditions for the world: http://www.skibonk.com/ski/index.jsp This site works for me but I am not sure if it will work for KCLS.

Dude...Google Sets was fun, but I am not sure if it will graduate. Accessible Search might be useful for some patrons. Music Trends was interesting to me. All in all, Google is the man.

Online Software

Dude...this is everything I have been waiting for and more. To me Zoho looks better but Google Docs will be the one I go with because I already have a google account. I particularly like the fact that a document can be uploaded and then saved as a .pdf. This is just great. Thank you Learning 2.0 for something I can really use.

Library 2.0

If Library 2.0 includes customizing the patron experience while at the library then I would have to question this. I think patrons are already attracted to the library in droves due to the fact that we offer "their space" in the form of free internet access. In my opinion, patrons enjoy the freedom of getting onto the internet and travelling cyberspace "their" way. Teen gaming night is getting pretty far out there in terms of the length the library will go in trying to lure teens into the library. Dude...since we are throwing taxpayer dollars at expensive gaming equipment, why don't we also build a skate park in the parking lot or offer free bus service to the local snowboard park!

Search What You Like: Rollyo and Google Custom Search

I chose Google Custom Search for two reasons. The first reason was for convenience because I already have a Google account. The second reason was because Rollyo was slower in searching than Google Custom Search. In my world, I don't see the need for this custom search. A regular google search works fine for me.

Wikis you'll know and love

It appears to me that unless there is a consistent cooperative effort over time, a Wiki website does not stay current, and hence it becomes a bit of a dud.

I now have a My Space account and it is an OK space to have. I feel like the "advertisements" are taking up way too much of my space though. On my first visit to a "random" My Space account I came upon a bunch of porno photos and so I am quite unsure of My Space as a place where Libraries might want to hang out.

Less Stress with RSS & Newsreaders

There is so much out there to choose from. The newsreaders don't interest me that much because I read the newpaper in the morning and listen to radio on the commute home from work at night. However, at work I use any number of RSS news feeds for the ticker that is projected onto the wall at the Library Connection @ Southcenter. In my personal life I might find RSS feeds useful for shopping. For example, I subscribed to an RSS feed supported by an outdoor equipment retail store called REI. This feed is called "REI.com Deal of the Day." The rss feed is: www.rei.com/outlet/rei-outlet-rss2.xml. Libraries might use RSS Feeds to keep patrons posted on new materials in the library system or maybe job postings or even new databases when they come on board.

Creating an account in Flickr was easy. I uploaded two images and tagged them with "kcls27things," however, these images will not show up on the "kcls27things" page until I upload at least 5 images and wait 10 days for these images to be reviewed by Flickr.

Sarina is my "little sister" through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America organization. I am teaching her how to mountain bike. We bike at Tiger Mountain, Lake Sawyer, Dash Point State Park and Skookum Flats near Greenwater. Sarina has been my "little sister" for 1 year now. This summer we hope to take our mountain bikes up to Whistler for some amazing downhill riding
